Cortex AI Functions
OpenBB widgets now support Snowflake Cortex AI functions natively. Analysts can run LLM-powered operations directly on data inside their Snowflake environment, summarization, classification, extraction, and more, without moving data outside Snowflake or stitching together a separate pipeline.
Inline AI on Widgets
Every widget in the workspace now supports inline AI interactions. Analysts can ask questions, run calculations, or request summaries directly within a chart or table, without switching to the main chat interface.
Semantic Views (Cortex Analyst)
OpenBB now connects to Snowflake's Cortex Analyst layer via semantic views. Financial teams can define the business logic once, in Snowflake, and OpenBB surfaces it in natural language queries across the workspace. For firms with complex data models, this removes a significant amount of translation work between your data team and your analysts.
Skills
OpenBB Skills, our composable AI workflow layer, are now fully supported in the Snowflake Native App. Teams can build repeatable, AI workflows that run against their Snowflake data, automate analytical steps, and surface outputs directly inside the workspace.
3. Parameters on Widgets
Parameters let analysts control what the widget shows and simplifies how AI can interact with the data. OpenBB Workspace supports a wide variety of parameter types and grouping widgets across common parameters. Suppose you’d like to update an entire app with several widgets to the same stock ticker.
Parameters let you expose that variable in the workspace navigation bar so analysts can update the app without touching the underlying code editor. Similar to human approach, the AI agent can change the parameter value instead of rewriting the SQL from scratch when responding to user prompts.
