Financial institutions run on data, proprietary models, licensed feeds, internal research, third-party signals. Most teams are managing all of it across multiple platforms, disconnected workflows, and a backlog of integration work that never quite gets done. The OpenBB Workspace was built to change that: teams can bring their own data, connect internal tools, and build production-ready applications without months of frontend development work.
The question has always been speed. How much of that burden falls on engineering rather than the analysts who actually need the data? How long does it take to trial a new provider before anyone commits to a subscription?
The OpenBB App Marketplace is built for that gap. Datasets your analysts want to explore this week, providers your firm hasn't onboarded yet, and workflows that shouldn't require an engineering sprint to see the light of day.
Why we built it
OpenBB gives asset managers, hedge funds, and banks an agentic workspace to unify data sources and internal tools into production-ready analytics applications. The Workspace handles data visualization, AI agents, and custom workflows. What it didn't solve on its own was discovery, the process of finding a new data provider, trialing their data in the context of a real workflow, and getting to a decision without weeks of back-and-forth.
Most data distribution today still follows one of two paths: a static catalog you browse, then fill out a form and wait for a sales rep, or a raw API you get access to, then build everything yourself. Neither of those works well for an analyst who needs to answer a question today.
The Marketplace sits between those two extremes. Data providers build interactive apps with charts, tables, documents, and AI-queryable widgets that live inside the Workspace. Analysts find them, open them, and start working with real data immediately. When they're ready to go deeper, they connect an API key directly with the vendor. No procurement cycle. No IT ticket. No context switch.
For data vendors, the value runs the other direction. Reaching qualified buyers at investment firms and banks is complex. The Marketplace puts their data in front of analysts at the moment of analysis, with full visibility into every click, connection, and query, and a direct path to paid subscriptions.
What your team gains
Multi-source research without the integration overhead
An analyst covering a sector can pull earnings data from one provider, macro indicators from another, and alternative signals from a third, all in the same Workspace. The Marketplace makes that possible without three separate vendor relationships and three separate integrations running in parallel.
Trialing data before committing
Many apps offer access to a sample dataset without any authentication, so analysts can see exactly how the data behaves in their workflow before their firm signs a contract. That's a fundamentally different buying experience from sitting through a demo call or getting handed a raw sample dataset to integrate.
AI-native research workflows
Every app in the Marketplace is compatible with OpenBB's native AI Copilot and supports custom agent workflows. An analyst can open an app, ask a question in natural language, and get an answer grounded in that provider's data. No code required. No switching platforms.
A live proof of concept
For CTOs and heads of data considering OpenBB for their firm, the Marketplace is the fastest way to see what the product actually does with real data. Live apps, built by real providers, running in the same environment your team would use from day one.
The Marketplace is currently available on the free tier as we continue onboarding partners and refining the experience. If your firm already runs OpenBB Workspace internally and wants to make it available to your team, that's a supported path, reach out to us, and we’ll make it work for your team.
Faster data discovery
OpenBB Copilot knows every vendor in the Marketplace. Ask it directly "What vendors provide Munis data?" or "Which apps cover CPI predictions?", and it surfaces the right options from inside the Workspace, with no tab-switching required.
Our Launch Partners
We're going live with the first batch of apps from providers across market data, alternative data, and financial research. Each app has been built and vetted in collaboration with our team.

More apps are being added. If you're a data provider and want to reach financial professionals inside their workflow, reach out to our team. We're onboarding new partners on a rolling basis.
Alongside our launch partners, we've also built and listed some apps ourselves, pulling directly from official public sources. These cover the CFTC's full historical futures reports, including Commitment of Traders data going back decades, U.S. energy time series and outlooks from the EIA, and the Homeland Security Digital Library's public document collection. All of it, now accessible directly inside your Workspace.
Getting Started
If you're already using OpenBB Workspace, open the Apps section and navigate to the Marketplace tab. Browse by category, read the app description, and connect directly. Some apps are immediately accessible without authentication. Others offer a sample dataset to explore before you add an API key for full access.
