Financial institutions face a common challenge: research teams rely on multiple tools that don't talk to each other. Data lives in one place, analysis happens in another, and specialized AI sits somewhere else entirely. OpenBB and LinqAlpha address different parts of this problem, and when used together, they create a streamlined research environment that puts analysts back in control.
Two Complementary Solutions
OpenBB Workspace is an enterprise platform that provides the infrastructure and UI layer for financial organizations to build customized analytics workflows. Teams connect their proprietary data sources, deploy AI agents, and create tailored dashboards—all within a secure, compliant environment. The Workspace already includes OpenBB Copilot, a native AI assistant, but its architecture allows any organization to plug in the specialized agents they need.
LinqAlpha is a multi-agent AI platform built specifically for investment research. Founded by MIT PhDs and former Goldman Sachs professionals, LinqAlpha processes unstructured data across earnings transcripts, SEC filings, regulatory documents, and macroeconomic commentary to generate actionable insights. The platform serves over 170 financial institutions with specialized agents for company screening, peer comparisons, and sentiment analysis.
While OpenBB gives teams the infrastructure to centralize workflows, visualize data, and interact with agents, LinqAlpha provides the domain-specific intelligence to automate research tasks. Together, they form a research stack where specialized AI operates on top of unified data infrastructure.
OpenBB users expand their stack with specialized AI
Analysts working in OpenBB Workspace can connect LinqAlpha's specialized agents to access market-specific intelligence without leaving their environment. This means screening companies, analyzing earnings transcripts, and generating investment primers alongside proprietary data visualizations, all in one interface.
The combination accelerates research workflows in several ways. LinqAlpha's agents handle repetitive analysis tasks like extracting key metrics from filings or quantifying sentiment across analyst reports. These outputs can be inserted directly into OpenBB's customizable dashboards, where teams can layer them with internal data, build custom views, and share findings with colleagues.
Because OpenBB's infrastructure supports any AI agent, teams can run LinqAlpha alongside other specialized tools they've already deployed. There's no vendor lock-in, no forced migration. Teams add capabilities as needed.
LinqAlpha users get a customizable UI layer
LinqAlpha users working primarily with AI agents need a place to visualize outputs, combine results with internal data, and build repeatable workflows for their teams. OpenBB Workspace provides exactly that: a customizable UI layer where LinqAlpha's insights can be displayed, manipulated, and distributed.
This becomes critical for enterprise deployments. OpenBB handles the compliance and security requirements that financial institutions demand. Teams can deploy on-premises or in private clouds, ensuring that LinqAlpha's AI operates within their existing security frameworks.
OpenBB also gives LinqAlpha users the flexibility to bring other tools into the same environment. Teams can connect their proprietary datasets, add visualization widgets, or integrate additional AI agents—creating a unified workspace where LinqAlpha's research intelligence sits alongside everything else they need.
See it in action
The short video below shows how analysts interact with LinqAlpha directly inside OpenBB Workspace. An analyst asks a question, receives a structured response, and converts that output into a dashboard widget in seconds. No context switching, no copy-pasting between tools.
Featured Workflow: Screening Global Earnings with LinqAlpha in OpenBB Workspace
On November 15th at the AI for Finance Symposium '25 in Singapore, we'll demonstrate a complete buy-side analyst workflow that uses OpenBB Workspace and LinqAlpha together during earnings season.
The demo follows an analyst evaluating Southwest Airlines after their October 22nd earnings release. The workflow shows how research teams can:
- Extract key metrics and management guidance from a 20-page SEC filing (Exhibit 99.1) using OpenBB Copilot, comparing Q3 2025 vs. 2024 performance and identifying drivers behind changes like the net income drop due to share repurchases
- Cross-reference filing data against news sentiment, closing prices, and analyst price targets to gauge market reaction
- Run peer comparisons and relative valuation analysis using LinqAlpha agents to benchmark Southwest against top competitors across multiple valuation metrics
- Synthesize findings from filings, news, estimates, and peer analysis into a complete investment thesis, ready to share with the team
The entire process takes minutes instead of hours. Each prompt is reusable across dozens of companies in the same sector. Outputs become dashboard widgets and investment cases export directly to PDF or email.
We'll share the full demo video after the event.

Why openness matters: organizations retain control over their stack
OpenBB's architecture is designed so financial organizations can experiment with any AI agent, data source, or analytics tool without committing to a single vendor. Research teams need the freedom to test new capabilities, switch providers, and combine tools as their workflows evolve.
When platforms lock users into exclusive ecosystems, innovation slows. Teams can't test competing solutions. They can't build hybrid workflows that use the best tool for each job. OpenBB's approach is different: bring your own data, bring your own AI, build what you need.
LinqAlpha fits perfectly in this environment because OpenBB doesn't require custom integrations for every new tool. The same extensible infrastructure that supports LinqAlpha also supports any other agent a team might want to deploy.
What's Next
OpenBB's head of product will be presenting a live demonstration of this workflow at the AI for Finance Symposium '25, as part of ACM ICAIF 2025. The event will take place on November 15th at Sheraton Towers Singapore. We'll show how research teams can combine specialized AI with enterprise infrastructure to build workflows that actually fit how analysts work.
If you're attending the event, stop by. If not, we'll share the demo video and detailed walkthrough soon.
